Magi Astrology
The Magi system of astrology (pronounced ‘may – gee’) is a fascinating system used by the Shao Lin monks of China. This system ignores ‘star signs’ and is not dependant on exact birth times. However, it is a very powerful system of astrology based on planetary symbolisms and geometry. If you don’t know your time of birth, this is a good system to use for getting some insight into what the stars have in store for you.
The Astrology Of Love and Sex
Have you ever wondered what it is that makes for that elusive sexual chemistry between two people - the kind where no matter how long you’ve been together, the attraction is just as strong as the day you met? What it is that creates such chemistry that while making love to your beloved, you loose track of time and space, and you and your partner seem to merge into one?

According to the Magi Society, who have done extensive research into these topics, the basic symbolisms of the planets as they apply to love and sex are as follows:
- Venus: seduction, attraction and beauty
- Mars: sexual desire, the body and aggressiveness
- Pluto: obsessions, lust and the sex act
- Neptune : romantic, sensitive and enduring
- Chiron: emotional ties, the family, marriage, children
- Jupiter: forgiveness, selfless love and fulfillment
- Saturn: controlling, unforgiving and relentless
- Uranus: independent, fluctuating and adventurous
- Mercury: communicative, expressive and cerebral
- Moon: emotional, moody and intuitive
In my own experience, I have found this to be true. Whenever these planets form meaningful alignments amongst themselves, then there will be predictable effects based , on the above SYMBOLISMS of the planets.
What are meaningful alignments? Over long periods of observation, the ancients came to the conclusion that on days when any two planets were aligned such that the angle between them was any multiple of 30 degrees, those days had special meaning, and differed from days that had no such alignments. This meant, for example, that if Mars were 30, 60, 90, 120,150, 180 or 0 degrees from another planet, it was meaningful, and under such circumstances, they would say that Mars was IN ASPECT to that other planet, or we could say that both planets were in aspect to one another.
So, when any two or more planets are in any multiple of 30 degrees distance from each other, they are in aspect. Imagine a circle. If we divide that circle up into 12 equal parts, we will have the 12 signs of the zodiac. 12 x 30 degrees = 360, the number of degrees in a circle. Now, each of the 30 degree aspects has a name, and has a different effect. For example, if two planets are in 0 degrees from one another, they are sitting side by side, and are said to be in CONJUNCTION. If they are 30 degrees apart, then they are in SEMI-SEXTILE. If they are 60 degrees from each other, they are in SEXTILE. Two or more planets 90 degrees apart from one another are said to be in SQUARE aspect. If they happen to be 120 degrees apart, then they are TRINE each other, etc. All the major aspects used in astrology are listed below:
- CONJUNCTION: 0 degrees
- SEMI-SEXTILE: 30 degrees
- SEXTILE: 60 degrees
- SQUARE: 90 degrees
- TRINE: 120 degrees
- QUINCUNX: 150 degrees
- OPPOSITION: 180 degrees
Basically, conjunctions, semi-sextiles, sextiles, trines and quincunxes are considered favorable or positive in nature; they promote, support, protect or bring to fruition the symbolisms of the planets participating in them. These particular alignments, or aspects, are called ENHANCEMENT aspects. Since they are positive or favorable in nature, they enhance the symbolisms of the planets that participate in them.
Squares and oppositions are negative or unfavourable; they tend to deny, hurt, delay, destroy or otherwise mar the symbolisms of the planets that are involved in these particular alignments. Such alignments are called ACTIVATION aspects. They activate the symbolisms of the participating planets in a negative way.
To give some examples of how all this works, let's imagine one person has Jupiter at 25 degrees of Sagittarius, and another person has Neptune at 25 degrees of Aries. Since the Jupiter of the one person is 120 degrees away from the other's Neptune, they are in TRINE aspect to one another, and therefore would ENHANCE each other's symbolisms. If these two persons were to meet and get to know one another, they would have a very beneficial relationship, since the Jupiter person would always be generous towards, support, promote, protect and be otherwise favorably disposed toward the Neptune person, while the Neptune person would find it very easy to have a long term romantic relationship with the Jupiter person.
Similarly, if a person had Saturn at an activation angle (90 or 180 degrees) to another's Moon, then the Moon person would find that Saturn person to be an oppressive, controlling, wet blanket, and generally unpleasant to be with.
Two people with Venus and Mars in an ENHANCEMENT angle to each other would find that they were spontaneously sexually attracted to each other, and if they became lovers, would find that their bodies just automatically knew what the other wanted and needed while making love; there would be a smooth and flowing movement between them and their lovemaking would prove very satisfying.
On the other hand, two people with Venus and Mars at ACTIVATION angles to each other might INITIALLY find they were attracted to each other, but would find that over time, that attraction would degenerate into constant bickering and fighting.
Once you master the SYMBOLISMS of the planets and meanings of the ASPECTS, you then have a very powerful tool to use to help you in understanding the most likely outcome of a relationship between two people. The more you master these, the more you will be able to answer the questions that really matter when in comes to issues of love and sex.
